Tim's climb thoughts
Maculot:
This was my first climb with the group - did wonders for me. It was such a joy to be able to get back into a hobby I had neglected for years and all thanks to Violet and NACC for making it possible! Two things stay in my mind - first (and least important) that as a middle-aged brit in a tropical climate it made me feel good that in the summer heat I could keep up with "kids" 10 years younger than me.
But more important was how the group accepted me. I don't want to go into details but I had just been through a very bad experience which almost bankrupted me in more ways than one. Just to be accepted by the folk on the climb meant so much to me and did much to restore my faith in the Filipino people and how beautiful this nation really is. Special thanks to Marissa, Grace, Alvin, Christine, Felice, Ray and Che2, and of course Violet without whom it would not have been possible. (Hope I got everybody's name right and miss anyone out).
Pulag:
This was great - I'm sure we must have strayed into some corner of Middle-Earth. I have no doubt that there are Elves dwelling in the mossy forest, maybe even Galadriel herself! And I expect Hobbits still
> linger in the grasslands! Anyway this climb is so important for conservation for we still see the Philippines in its Pristine beauty and that's something we all have to work to preserve and protect. Let us never grow weary in well-doing and continue to be stewards of the earth we have been entrusted with.
Have fun
Tim
